CurbOver 2WD Low (2L) System
Give your Jimny the torque of 4L — delivered entirely through the rear axle, safely on tarmac.
You need the torque of 4L. But you can’t safely engage it.
The Jimny’s part-time 4WD has no centre differential. Engage 4L on grippy, paved ground and the front and rear axles are forced to turn at exactly the same rate — they fight each other and the tension builds into transmission wind-up, stressing the gearbox, transfer case and axles. That is precisely why the manual forbids 4WD on tarmac.
Yet India’s most demanding tarmac — the 36-hairpin Masanagudi climb to Ooty, the Sigur ghats, Shinkula Pass, and high passes where 4WD won’t even engage — calls for exactly that low-range pull. That’s the gap the 2L System closes.
Keep the gear ratio of 4L. Drop the 4WD.
Flip the switch and the 2L System electronically disengages the front hubs while the transfer lever stays in the 4L position. You keep the full low-range gear ratio — roughly double the torque at the wheels versus 2H — driven entirely through the rear axle. No front-rear fight. No wind-up. No drama.
How to use it
- Move the transfer lever to 4L (slow to a near-stop, as you normally would).
- Press the 2L switch — the green LED lights up and the dashboard 4WD indicator goes off.
- Drive: full low-range torque through the rear wheels, up to 30 km/h. Need full 4L for a technical section? Just toggle the switch on the move (under 30 km/h) and you’re in 4WD Low.
What the 2L System unlocks
⛰️ Climb steep tarmac
Ooty’s 36 hairpins, the Sigur ghats, Shinkula Pass and every clutch-burning city ramp — with low-range torque and zero wind-up.
🏔 Works above 13,000 ft
Where the vacuum hubs won’t lock and 4WD refuses to engage, 2L still delivers. “It will engage even if you take the Jimny to the Moon.”
🔒 Valet & transport proof
With 2L active a driver physically cannot engage 4WD, even by moving the lever — total peace of mind during valet parking or transport.
🧰 Tight, slow crawls
3-point turns, rock crawls and hairpins become effortless — smooth, controllable torque with no grinding, whining or wheel slip.
🔧 100% plug-and-play
No cutting, no drilling, no permanent modification. Draws just 0.6 A and is fully reversible to factory-stock at any time.
🛡️ Built to exceed OEM SPECS
Triple-insulated harness, double-sealed transfer-case connectors and a sealed relay. Every wire is labelled, crimped and soldered.

What Jimny owners are saying
What’s in the box
- Custom 2L switch — single-piece moulding, laser-etched CurbOver 4×4 logo, orange backlight and a green LED indicator. Fits the Jimny’s blank switch slot like factory.
- Triple-insulated wiring harness — silicone cable + PVC tube + nylon mesh; every wire numbered, labelled, crimped and soldered.
- Double-sealed transfer-case connectors — better than the single-sealed OEM units.
- Environmentally-sealed relay with 3M mounting tape.
- OBD scanner — included to clear the single harmless edge-case fault code (explained in the manual).
- Printed user manual & installation guide, CurbOver sticker and cable ties.
Tested before a single kit shipped
The system has been tested cumulatively for over 1 Lac kilometres already, through highways, trails, broken roads and high-pressure underbody washes. Zero issues. It has performed flawlessly from Western Ghats to Leh Ladakh. Members have even used it to ascend the famous Sandakphu trail with great confidence and success. The recent CurbOver expedition to Umling La pass (June 2026) had at least 10 Jimny’s installed with this kit. All of them reported fantastic driveability and torque when used during the expedition.
Power draw is just 0.6 A, and the system does not interact with the ECU under normal use.
Installation
The 2L System is entirely plug-and-play — no wires cut, no holes drilled, no permanent changes. It connects in-line at the transfer-case couplers, the power wire routes into the cabin, and the switch drops into the blank slot beside the handbrake.
- ~35–40 minutes with a practiced mechanic; 1–2 hours for a careful DIY install.
- Fully reversible — remove it any time and the Jimny is exactly as it left the factory.
- Installation support and camps have been organised across Bangalore, Delhi NCR, Gurgaon and other cities.

Frequently asked questions
Will this damage my Jimny or void the warranty?
No. The kit is plug-and-play with no cutting, drilling or permanent modification, draws only 0.6 A, and does not interact with the ECU under normal use. It can be fully removed at any time, leaving the vehicle factory-stock.
Does it fit both manual and automatic Jimnys?
Yes — the 2L System is compatible with both MT and AT versions of the Maruti Suzuki Jimny.
How fast can I drive in 2L?
Up to 30 km/h is recommended in 2L. If you need full 4WD Low for a technical section, simply toggle the switch while moving at under 30 km/h and the car shifts into 4L.
Does it really work at high altitude?
Yes. Above ~14,000 ft the Jimny’s vacuum hubs often won’t lock and 4WD won’t engage. Move the lever to 4L and activate 2L — the front hubs disengage, the blinking indicator clears, and you get low-range torque regardless of altitude.
What is the OBD scanner for?
Under one very specific edge case (switching on before moving the lever to 4L, then exceeding 40 km/h for several seconds) a harmless fault code can appear. The included OBD scanner clears it in seconds; the manual explains it in full.
How long does installation take, and can I do it myself?
About 35–40 minutes for a practiced mechanic and 1–2 hours for a careful DIY install. A detailed installation video is available and installation support is available in several cities.
Designed, built & tested in India
The Jimny is sold in dozens of countries — yet no manufacturer or aftermarket company anywhere has offered this functionality. CurbOver did it first, in-house, for the community. Batch 1 sold out. Batch 2 is now available.
